For something a little different, until the 23rd of September A+ Works of Art is presenting a collective exhibition featuring the works of eight young visual artists based in the Phillipines. The show is curated by Carlos Quijon Jr and features Saturnino Basilla, Eric Bico, Lesley-Anne Cao, Marlon Hacla, Ginoe, Christina Lopez, Krista Nogueras, and Jo Tanierla.

According to the organizers, Nothing Human is Alien to Me "engages with a number of concepts and histories that venture on speculations, technologies, and advancements that at some point in time exceeded and transformed ideas of humanity. These are ideas and historical moments that tease out the threshold between humanity and alienness, or in a more specific inflection: how conceptualizations of humanity have been extended or augmented over time enough for it to achieve what before was unimaginable. This may consider more historical anchors such as poetics of the posthuman, the history of technology, objects, and things, modes of production, and circulations of global capital, to more scientific and speculative tenors such as artificial intelligence, body modification, prosthetics, digital and virtual lifeworlds."

Indeed, this body of work casts a wide net, encapsulating everything from traditional drawing and painting techniques to the incorporation of found objects, graphic zines, sculptures, installations, the gamut of printing techniques including digital, video and related new media.
